Florida’s 2015 Back-to-School Tax-Free Week

Summer is already winding down and back-to-school supplies are on the shelves at Florida stores. Thankfully Florida’s åÊBack-to-School Tax Free Holiday has been extended from three to 10 days.

From Friday, August 7 to Sunday, August 16, 2015, families can shop Florida stores for school supplies, clothing and computer items; all free of Florida State taxes.

Below you will find an abbreviated list of tax-free items that you can use while shopping the stores this back-to-school season.

School Supplies ($15 or less per item)

The usual school supplies like pens, pencils, notebook paper, crayons and scissors are tax free.

These school supplies below are also available tax-free:

YES Tax Free

-Markers, crayons, rulers and erasers

-Calculators, folders and construction paper

-Legal pads, poster board and composition books

-Notebooks, compasses and protractors

NOT Tax Free

-Computer paper and printer paper

-Correction tape, fluid, or pens

-Masking tape, Staplers and Staples

-Select books

Clothing ($100 or less per item)

Shirts, blouses, pants, skirts, shorts and dresses

Backpacks, shoes, belts and hats

Wallet, handbags, diaper bags

Pajamas, baby clothes and more.

NOT Tax-Free:

-Swim fins, roller blades, skates and skis

-Watches, jewelry and handkerchiefs

-Briefcases, suitcases and umbrellas

Computers & åÊrelated accessories

(First $750 of sales price)

Select computers and computer-related accessories may qualify for this tax-free holiday.åÊåÊOn qualified computer related purchases, åÊthe first $750 of the sales price will be tax-free if it is purchased for noncommercial home or personal use.
