Special Needs Movie Screenings at Studio Movie Grill

Studio Movie Grill, which offers a dine-in movie experience hosts monthly Special Needs Screenings, designed for families raising children with special needs.

These family-friendly movies are free for children with special needs and their siblings. Adults can purchase their movie tickets for before-noon price.

Special Needs Screenings are shown with the lights up and the volume lowered and children are more than welcome to move around, talk, or even dance in the aisles during the movie. Special Needs Screenings are shown at 11:00am at all SMG locations except EpiCentre.

Tampa is home to the only Studio Movie Grill  location in Florida.

Cobb Theatre Offers Sensory Friendly Movies

While the term Sensory Friendly Films started in 2007, we are seeing more and more movie theatres, including Cobb Theatre who is offering sensory friendly movie options for their customers.

Cobb’s Sensory Films  provide families with varying abilities to watch a family-friendly film where kids can feel safe and comfortable to move around, talk, sing or even dance in the aisles during the movie. The lights are a little brighter in the movie theatre and and the volume is lowered.

Movies usually begin at 10 a.m. on select dates. Tickets are available only on the Wednesday prior to the broadcast of the scheduled movie.

Sensory Friendly, My Way Matinee – A Dog’s Purpose

We Rock The Spectrum Kid’s Gym

We Rock the Spectrum Kid’s Gym are located in Clearwater and in Tampa. These interactive gyms was founded to provide a place for children of all ability levels to play and grow together.

The gym is uniquely designed with sensory equipment that is specifically designed to aid children with sensory processing disorders. However, the We Rock the Spectrum Gym equipment can benefit all children.

“Allowing children to play using the sensory based equipment encourages them to expand their mind and reach new heights of ability levels. This also gives the children a chance to use their imagination and become their favorite characters while experiencing the exhilaration of climbing, jumping, swinging, crashing, crawling, running or zipping on any one of the various pieces of awesome equipment found at We Rock the Spectrum Kid’s Gym.”- We Rock The Spectrum Gym

Throughout the gym children will always find ten specialized pieces of sensory equipment. The sensory equipment aids children improvement of their sensory functions while they learn and play. Through active play, kids can improve their skills and master their own body weight and movements.

Children will be able to use a Zip Line, Trampoline, Climbing structures, different types of swings, tunnels and Swivel Rotators/Carabiners with Webbing.

These specialized gym equipment helps with upper body strength, muscle endurance, balance, self-confidence and many other physical, educational and emotional benefits.
