Impress kids and adult brains at Tampas Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI). Three floors of science and 400+ hands on exhibits await.
Learn by doing at MOSI Tampa. If you have young children, stop by the Kids in Charge!area, it has 40,000 square feet of play and exhibits to fuel learning. Kids can manipulate, direct, collaborate and deploy while learning about friction, physics, and design.
Shows in the Sanders Planetarium feature the nighttime skies on MOSI’s projection dome. The schedule for shows is subject to change, so check ahead of time to not miss the planetarium on a visit. A planetarium show is included in a general admission ticket.
Try MOSI’s high-wire bicycle. The bike is counter weighted on 30 feet above the ground on the third floor of the museum. Kids can actually test the laws of physics on a 1-inch steel cable. (Don’t worry mom and dad, the counterweight ensures the safety of the bike and there is also a net beneath the bike to ease worried minds.) Also on the top floor, check out the Amazing You exhibit where visitors not only trek through the stages of a human life, but also learn how to be robust in each stage of life.
Check out documentary films in the MOSI’s IMAX DOME theatre. Or, go outside and let the younger kids play on MOSI’s playground. Older kids and adults can try a rope course or a zip line. Inspect butterflies native to West Central Florida at the Butterfly Garden. Stroll through the trails of the Backwoods Nature Preserve.
MOSIs Elements gift shop features products from homegrown artists or gadgets to take home. Grab a quick bite to eat in the MOSI cafe, Everythings Fresh, or eat outside on picnic tables with your own sack lunch.
Parking for non-MOSI members is $5.
