Sensory Sundays — Calm, Inclusive Climbing

Sensory Sundays create a quieter, more supportive way to experience indoor rock climbing.

On the fourth Sunday of every month, Vertical Ventures opens the gym exclusively for climbers with sensory sensitivities. During this time, the facility is closed to the public, house music is turned off, and we ask everyone to use quiet voices to help maintain a calm, low-stimulation environment.

Our experienced and compassionate staff are on hand to offer as much—or as little—support as you’d like. Whether it’s your first time climbing or part of a regular routine, Sensory Sunday is designed to make climbing feel accessible, comfortable, and welcoming for climbers of all ages.

What to expect:
• Quiet, low-sensory environment
• No public crowd during session hours
• Supportive, trained staff available throughout
• Self-paced climbing and exploration

Staff can help with:
• Gym tours and orientation
• Getting geared up
• Introductory climbing instruction
• Belaying on the ropes

Additional accommodations:
• Noise-canceling headphones (limited supply)
• “Zen Den” quiet room available away from climbing
• Coloring books and calm activities available
