Xtra ICE, a non-profit organization, is committed to developing youth hockey at all levels by offering reasonable pricing for top notch instruction, introducing hockey and supplying equipment to children who normally would not have the opportunity to play. Xtra ICE also provides mentoring by professionals that have reached the highest level of their sport. Xtra ICE opened for business in late 2011 and offered structured practices, camps and clinics. In early 2012, Xtra ICE became a 501(c) (3) whose goal then was to provide extra (“Xtra”) ice time for individuals or teams to train on ice, when there was no other availability elsewhere.
Still with its original idea to provide “Xtra” ice time for those individuals or teams that need it, but also providing a place for children 18 years and younger the opportunity to play hockey, who would not normally have the ability to do so. Xtra ICE is a 140’ x 65’ micro rink located in Tampa, Florida exactly 3 miles northwest of Raymond James Stadium. Xtra Ice has served as the home training rink to three USA Hockey National Champions and supports team practices and events for all high school and local travel teams that would like Xtra ice time as well.
