Home Depot Kids Workshops: Free Monthly DIY Fun for Kids
Home Depot Kids Workshops are one of our favorite free activities for kids in Tampa Bay. Held on the first Saturday of each month, these hands-on workshops give children the chance to build a fun wooden project, learn new skills, and take home something they created themselves. My kids love going to them and even the older ones still want to thry their hand at these fun crafts.
What Is the Home Depot Kids Workshop?
Designed for children ages 5-12, each workshop features a different project throughout the year. Kids may build birdhouses, toolboxes, planters, fire trucks, picture frames, and other creative DIY projects. It’s a great way to spend some quality time together as a family. and it’s FREE! With a family, sometimes it adds up quickly to things that are fun.
What Kids Receive
The workshops typically take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at participating Home Depot stores. All materials and tools are provided, and each child receives:
- A free DIY project kit
- Use of all tools and supplies
- A Home Depot Kids Workshop apron
- A certificate of achievement
- A collectible project pin
You can keep the apron and bring it with you at your next visit. If for some reason you forget to bring yours, they always have extra aprons for the little ones.

Ages: Designed for ages 5-12, but younger and older siblings are welcome to participate with parent supervision.
Collect the Monthly Pins
One of the best parts of the Home Depot Kids Workshop program is the collectible pins. Each month, children receive a unique pin featuring the project they completed. Many families enjoy collecting the pins year after year as a fun keepsake of their accomplishments and memories.
Attending With a Group?
Planning to attend with a scout troop, church group, homeschool group, or moms’ group? Home Depot recommends registering larger groups in advance to help ensure enough supplies are available for everyone.
